  • What is a Ringneck Pheasant?
    Ringneck pheasants are a popular gamebird, known for long tails and beautiful colors. Male ringnecks have copper/gold plumage, red face, and a white collar- females are brown. Ringnecks are very strong fliers and well adapted for life on the ground. They are not a migratory bird.
  • How big do Ringneck pheasants get?
    Hen ringnecks typically weigh 1.75 lbs and roosters weigh in around 2.5 lbs
  • What do pheasants eat?
    Ringneck pheasants are mainly ground foragers- they eat seeds, grains, corn, soybeans, insects, berries, and their diet changes with the seasons. For example, in the spring/summer they eat more green, leafy foods and insects.
  • How long do pheasants live?
    In the wild, pheasants typically live 1-3 years due to being prey animals. In captivity, their lifespan can reach up to 18 years.
  • Can pheasants be returned after purchase?
    No, we do not except returns on pheasants. If you have purchased pheasants to keep for yourself, certain situations can allow us to take back ownership if someone is unable to properly care for the pheasants. Please contact us regarding that specific situation- please keep in mind no refund will be issued in that scenario. Any and all other sales are final and no returns or refunds are eligible.
  • Does P.R.R sell eggs?
    At this time, we do not sell pheasant eggs.
  • Does P.R.R offer delivery of birds?
    Yes, we do offer delivery of pheasants to your desired location at a mileage rate. Please contact us for further information.
  • How many pheasants are raised at a time?
    A lot of factors come into play when planning out each new season of chicks. Typically we raise anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 chicks.
  • What areas do you service?
    P.R.R most frequently services customers in Nebraska and Iowa but can service other states depending on travel time. We do not offer shipping of chicks or mature birds at this time.
  • Where is P.R.R located?
    Platte River Ringnecks is located in Springfield, NE off of highway 31 near Schramm Park. 19902 NE-31 Springfield, NE 68059 Our pheasant farm and agricultural farm share the same headquarters.
  • Are pheasant pickups or deliveries scheduled?
    Yes, when a customer purchases pheasants all pick ups and deliveries for birds are scheduled.
  • Can I tour the farm?
    P.R.R does offer brief farm tours where people can see our flight pen and setup, as well as as questions to better understand pheasants and our farm. But entrance into each area where birds actively are residing are not eligible for tour. Only employees can enter those areas. Tours are scheduled and waiver forms are required prior to touring the area.
  • When do I pay for pheasants?
    When purchasing pheasants, payment is due at the time of pickup or delivery. Accepted payments are cash and card. Card payments are paid through our card reading devices that are setup through Square Payments.
  • Do I have to sign anything when purchasing pheasants?
    Yes, we do have a purchase agreement form that buyers must sign before the sale is complete. You will also receive a paper receipt with details regarding your sale with us.
